Has anyone reinstated, had a bad reaction, and successfully tapered or tapering back down?

I was already kindled but I reinstated Citalopram and it was raised up for 5 months. Polydrugged and having many symptoms. Has anyone reinstated and had a bad reaction or reinstated too high and successfully come back down or off? How soon did you start tapering? Did you feel better as you lowered the dose? I've been holding at the final dose (40mg) for 6.5 months but it's not the same and I want to start a daily microtaper down.
