Switching brands and doses

Is there any risk associated with switching brands of the very same med? Is it okay to take whatever brand you wish at any time? Is it always safe to switch from pills to tablets and back? I want to switch Prozac to a form that will allow me to make smaller cuts until 10 mg.

Prozac — 40 mg — 6 months — holding | Zyprexa — 20 mg — 6 years — holding | Depakote — 600 mg — 8 months — **tapering** | Buspirone — 20 mg — 8 months — holding | with clinician

Hi Wolf...yes, there is. Some people (myself included) have issues with this. I make sure I get the same manufacturer each time I get my prescriptions filled. Also, yes, some people can have issues with switching between different forms of their drug. Everyone is different though, but it's good to be aware that any changes may not be tolerated well.

Venlafaxine (tapering) - Current dose 17.92 mg
Trazodone - 50 mg
Levothyroxine - 25 mcg

Sadly i also found it different with switching brands despite same dosage, you might have to accept some days of adaption. But mostly you shouldn‘t have severe sideeffects, however have this in mind if it feels strange after switching, especially when switching between pills, beads in capsules and liquid forms.

off Quetiapain (2016-2020)

currently Effexor — 33mg — 13 years (from 300mg) — actively tapering | with clinician

Okkk so I won't be switching brands for Zyprexa where I don't really need it, but I will do it for Prozac where it will greatly help my taper. Thanks a lot for the explanation. 🙂
