2nd taper too much. Couldn’t hold. Went back to 5mg.

Hi, I'm currently tapering off an anti-psychotic but about 10 years ago had to come off about 25 mg valium so I feel what you are going through, believe me. My psychiatrist was totally useless and left me to it to find my own way through and I succeeded though it wasn't easy. I had foolishly got myself addicted when going through a stressful period I found an old bottle of the stuff and after 2 weeks I was well and truly hooked. The best place to find help was finding the guide by Dr Heather Ashton a British psychopharmacologist, a well regarded guide to tapering off benzos. She recommends a slow taper, a 5 to 10% reduction of your present dose, every few weeks. Anything quicker will likely produce severe withdrawals, which could discourage you from carrying on I think.
