Hey everyone, long message today if reading this hope you are all doing well . It's been a wild week, but I was thinking about doing a monthly symptom description update. There are so many symptoms going on right now, and sometimes it all just blends into one confusing baseline, so I want to note everything down to track it. Starting with my neuropsychiatric symptoms, I am dealing with altered thinking where it feels like someone else is controlling my thoughts, alongside a foreign consciousness where the world looks completely fake and cold. I also have visual tracking issues in the mirror, disconnected hearing and smell, a spatialrendering form of agoraphobia, OCD, jamais vu, and severe phobias of psychosis. Moving to physical and autonomic symptoms, I have profound somatic depersonalization where my outer body feels numb and dead to the touch, and my pain response is blunted. Internally, I am completely dissociated from my organs I cannot feel my heartbeat, stomach, lungs, or brain. I experience sensory gating issues for example, if I lie down for too long, I sometimes forget to move, or if I am working with my arms on keyboadx, I will just leave resting marks on them. I also have generalized itching and slow blood flow. A couple of months ago, a phlebotomist was trying to get blood from me; first it came, then it shut down, so they poked me again, it came, and then it shut down again. My gut health is dominated by severe, balloon-like bloating that sometimes restricts my breathing. It feels like my gut doesn't work and is completely altered. It doesn't move at all and feels shut down because it cannot expand like a balloon anymore. Cognitively, I cannot vividly recall my past life or the last 24 hours, often feeling like I am confabulating memories, and facing delays where my brain doesn't register what my eyes are looking at. Yet, at the same time, I am able to communicate over the phone, talk to my friends using chat, talk to my parents sometimes, play video games, and even talk over it on the phone. It is just super contradicting. Are all these withdrawals/drug-related symptoms?
Beyond the symptoms, I have made some observations throughout the week. I ate a carb-heavy meal with rice and surprisingly got 7.5 hours of sleep, and my neuropsychiatric symptoms initially went down. However, just like my historical pattern, I crashed hard shortly after. Knowing that continuing a high-carb diet makes me spiral, I quickly went back to my low-FODMAP diet for the last three days to find my very erratic baseline again. I also realized something about my caffeine (instant coffee) use back in 2025. I was taking my benzo and caffeine together, but after quitting caffeine completely, my baseline shifted and it never went back to how it felt like it was on caffeine. Is there a relationship between the benzo and the caffeine itself? I was wondering what if, when I was taking caffeine and on the benzo, maybe the caffeine was making the baseline a bit better because I felt a bit awake, I don't know. But then quitting it is now showing me what the drug effects actually look like. If so, slowly tapering should eventually clear the drug and allow the withdrawal to heal. If anyone has thoughts on this, please share.
I also consistently notice my symptoms spiking in the evenings. Additionally, I had a brief memory window this week. After taking my dose, I got flashes of memories not perfectly vivid, but enough of an experience that I felt like crying, after which I was able to close my eyes and fall asleep.
Regarding my recent doctor's appointment, things went reasonably well. My doctor still suspects there is some inflammation going on due to my lab abnormalities, but she reassured me it isn't an emergency. She said we can safely wait three months without rushing into any procedures, which was a relief. She advised me to continue the low-FODMAP diet for another three months, though my Google searches say it should only be done for two to six weeks, and I've already been doing it for two months. Finally, I made a 1.73% reduction on September 16th, bringing my total monthly reduction to 3.73%. Let's see how things go. Hopefully, everything will go okay.
