Do most folks keep working when trying to taper? How have your experiences been with driving? I had a friend tell me she couldn’t drive for 5 days when she started getting off of Venlafaxine.
I travel a lot for work- lots of driving! I have a 6hr drive ahead of me today but feel god awful, but feel worse even considering a day off 😭 Definitely need to slow down and start weighing out my meds so I can stay safe and sane. The 35mg->0mg step is not an option for me at the moment it seems.
I think 35 to 0 is too big of a step in most if not all cases :) the lower the dose the slower the taper needs to be! Staying on one dose until you stabilize (feel consistently better) is adviced. Please be safe especially driving while experiencing withdrawal. Hope you can take a break if needed.
Zoloft — current 2.8 mg — 6 years — actively tapering - tapered from 50 mg
Hi Kayci,
If you’re already noticing symptoms now, even if they disappear relatively quickly—which I would still expect at this dose—stop reducing!
Unfortunately, I was too motivated. Because my symptoms eased again, I kept going, and I’ve now been in a crisis for about six months and am increasing my dose again.
So just hold your current dose for six months and don’t put yourself under any pressure! I actually tapered slowly for almost four years, but unfortunately I only learned about hyperbolic tapering about six months ago, which explains why I’m in this situation now. I’ve been feeling like absolute shit for weeks.
Yes, I’m still working, and it’s very difficult and frustrating.
Cymbalta — 17,5mg(12mg) — 17 Jahre — holding -with clinician - 90 mg – 2021: First tapering attempt. 60 mg – 2023: Second tapering attempt. With a doctor's supervision—but unfortunately, a doctor who doesn't know how to properly taper off an antidepressant.
