I initially posted that I was prescribed Venlafaxine over 15 years ago but tonight I remembered the actual year I began my psych meds (tried, Lexapro, Zoloft, and a few others) was 2004. In 2016 I stopped cold turkey due to a vacation I took and forgot my meds at home. It drove me to madness and landed me in the hospital for 2 weeks and the process of slowly getting back on the med took about another 4 months. May of this year I chose to begin a taper due to mental fog and severe agitation. I was guided by my primary care doctor. I tapered down in 1 month from 150 mg to 75 mg, then 1 month from 75 mg to 50 mg, 1 month from 50 mg to 37.5 mg, 2 wks of 37.5 mg 3x wk, the next 2 wks. Im currently about a week shy of 3 months med free. I went to a psychiatrist who put me on Zoloft which i had a bad reaction to so then was put on Cymbalta. After 5 days i was in the hospital for 4 days and was released today. My brain/body/mind are hyper sensitive and can't tolerate meds, stress, lights, noise, etc. I basically can't get on another med so I'm choosing no meds. It has not been an easy road. I found this community only recently and now understand that the taper was way too fast. Prior to this community, I knew nothing about protracted withdrawal or waves and windows. I'm learning a lot. Can anyone give any solid advice on how to manage waves and windows while working full time? I feel like I need to be home recovering and not working at all! How do I manage? I work in an office setting/fast paced reception at a computer. Thank you
