Need help

I've been tapering for 1 month from 75 mg trazodone...I'm at 37.5 mg but have added 10mg of Melotonin & 1/2 dropper valerian root to sleep....it worked for a while....now i sleep 3 or 4 hours then I'm awake for the rest of the night....looking for advise please

Hi Sunny, A 50% reduction is enormous for the nervous system. Withdrawal symptoms are almost inevitable with such a large reduction. Why did you reduce by so much? How were you feeling on 75 mg?

Cymbalta — 15mg(12mg) — 17 Jahre — holding -with clinician - 90 mg – 2021: First tapering attempt.
60 mg – 2023: Second tapering attempt.
With a doctor's supervision—but unfortunately, a doctor who doesn't know how to properly taper off an antidepressant.

Hi @Sunny22, I'm sorry for your sleep issues. I would be cautious with adding things like valerian root and melatonin. They can sometimes have the opposite effect in some people. You might try eliminating them and see how you feel. You can always then add back in one at a time at a very low dose to see how you react. https://taper.community/thread/57d0fb51-6e6e-4517-9d3d-1dd2f2e3880c Also, as @Duloxi pointed out, you did a very large reduction. We normally recommend a monthly Hyperbolic taper of no more than 10%. You can learn about this in the Resources section. Keep us posted on how things are going for you. Venlafaxine (tapering) - Current dose 17.92 mg
Trazodone - 50 mg
Levothyroxine - 25 mcg

On 75mg I was feeling good...but my lyme dr wants me to get off of it...I reduced my dose quickly because I thought it was working with the Melotonin & valerian root but now I don't know what to do next

Unfortunately, doctors don't understand that these drugs cause the brain to become physically dependent and need to be tapered (sometimes slowly depending on the person). We're glad you're here too!!! 🥰
