"I feel like I can't safely process the grief, and even if I do, I just don't think I can cope. I do realize actually, that maybe it's just really really severe anxiety, any fluctuation with the medication iust reactivates the anxiety. I will try to find someone to help me proc..." — @LucyWell, right now may not be the best time to try and tackle anything deeply painful. It might be better to wait until you feel more stable. The problem I personally have with modern medicine is that drugs are given for symptoms instead of addressing the root cause of issues. Psychiatric drugs don't fix grief. They can dampen emotions, but they don't heal or cure anything. You don't have to figure out everything all at once. Just focus on getting through the day today and finding ways to deal with your panic attacks as they come. Here is some information about dealing with past trauma during withdrawal: https://taper.community/thread/6a4dee39-747d-43e9-a463-bf445a3ee62b Hopefully you can try some of the suggestions that have been given for your panic attacks. Keep checking in here so we know how you're doing, okay? We care about your well-being very much. 💝
"Hi, I have a question, for withdrawals, how long does it take after I had to quit cold turkey to stablize, a month? A few months?" — @LucyGood question Lucy. Many people wonder when things will start to improve. Truthfully, everyone is different in how quickly they begin to feel better. For some it can be a few weeks, but other can take a few months. Here is some info about stabilization: https://taper.community/thread/ff7ce496-025a-4391-95b4-cdd0063f092b
"I left trazodone cold turkey almost a month ago, am I still withdrawing from trazodone? I felt lapses in focus, episodes of severe fear when I took the second meds, and the fear never really went away. Now I'm withdrawing from second meds and still feeling this way, and I thou..." — @LucyEven though you started other drugs, yes you could still have been in withdrawal from the Trazodone. Sometimes withdrawal can emerge later. Plus, the new drugs, could also be affecting things. Things can get a little complicated when multiple drugs are involved. You said that you are "withdrawing" from your second meds. What do you mean by that? Are you trying to taper them? Sorry, if you could clarify that would be great. Thank you! The symptoms you're feeling right now are due to all the drug changes. They are only temporary. Once you feel stable, then any symptoms of withdrawal should feel better. Just keep an eye on how you're feeling in the upcoming weeks. Let us know how things go with your new doctor. As you have already seen, many doctors don't believe in withdrawal, so keep this in mind when speaking to them. Do you have any other questions or concerns?
"First med was the trazodone that I took for a long time and I quit cold turkey after it started making me anxious. Second meds are olanzapine and risperidone and again quit cold turkey." — @LucyOkay, I see Lucy. I was a bit confused since the information in your Signature says something different. When you get a chance, if you could update it with the correct and current information it would be appreciated. How long ago did you cold turkey the last two drugs - Olanzapine and Risperidone? Suddenly stopping any psychiatric drug is going to cause issues. You said before you did find some extra medication in your house? Is your goal to be free of all psychiatric drugs? Yes, unfortunately these drugs cause physical dependence and must be tapered.
"Thank you very much. This is genuinely helpful." — @LucyYou're very welcome! I'm sorry for the position you're in right now, but having the right information is going to save you - believe me! Please let us know how it goes with your new doctor today, but don't be surprised if they're not supportive or knowledgable about any of this. We'll be thinking of you today. I hope you're hanging in there okay! 🩷
