I have been on several medication’s for a variety of years. The longest is Ativan. I have not had any problems with it at the same dose for decades. However, after an upper respiratory infection that lift me with vertigo in 2019, concussion concussion in 2019 and then another concussion in 2022. The medicine cabinet was thrown at me.(to use a cliché.) I could not sleep and I lost a lot of weight after the 2022 concussion. About four months after that, I was put on mirtazapine and gabapentin.
I could still not sleep, but I started to put weight back on and started to feel better, but the on boarding was awful. I was very weak and not very well at all.
I was still having a lot of anxiety so I asked a psychiatrist that I was seeing to go on escitalopram. This was two years ago, so therefore that would’ve been 2024 of September. It took me a long time to get up to 12.5. I believe believed it’s helped with some of my anxiety.
However, I need to get off of some of the medication’s. The psychiatrist/psychopharmacologist suggested that I go off the mirtazapine first and up the Lexapro or escitalopram and leave the Ativan where it is right now because of the duration I’ve been on it I’ve been gaining weight in the last six months and I’m not sure if it’s the Mirtazapine or the Lexapro/escitalopram however, since I’m thinking the escitalopram has helped me I’m going to try to get off of the 7.5 mg of mirtazapine.
I have been reading about these medications for decades, so I’m well informed, but I’m not sure about the titration except for using the hyperbolic method.
I came to this community to check out and see what it is like and what people are saying about their experiences with titration and what works best. I realize mirtazapine is stronger at its lower dose and that it is effects five receptors.
Therefore, I hope to get from the community some support for when I start to titrate off Mirtazapine, which I’ve talked to my doctor about. It will be the first one to be titrated off of. I will not begin this process until after Christmas.
Mirtazapine — 7.5 — 3.5 years — researching taper | Lexapro — 12.5 — 2 years — researching taper | Ativan — 2.5mg — 33 years. — researching taper | Gabapentin — 100mg — 3.5 years — researching taper
