Hi everyone,
I am new here and found this community whilst searching for information on Effexor (Venlafaxine). So my story goes like this.My Psychiatrist originally prescribed Effexor 37.5mg alongside 15mg of Mirtazapine 34 days ago. After good results after 1 week he increased the dose to 75mg.After 9 days, I found the anxiety and withdrawl symptoms too severe. Therefore he then reduced the dose of Effexor back to 37.5mg.I have stabilised on that dose for 3 weeks. However, around 1 week ago, I started experiencing intermittant blurred vision/ dizziness. After reading copious amonts of posts on the topic of blurred vision and anti depressants, I am worried that I will need to taper off this med and start the whole process again.I endured a terrible experience before stabilising.
The symptoms are as follows:
Intermittant blurred vision or difficulty focusing on close objects. This is more pronounced when looking at my phone or reading a book.
Worse when anxious or tryong to focus for longer periods of time.
No eye pain
No floaters
No halos
The sensation is generally not there on waking in the morming, however after 2 hours can be detected. The sensation is only very mild, but still not normal, hence I am comcerned as to why it is happening.
If there is anyone reading this forum with medical knowledge, or a similar experience, any help you could give would be much apprecoated
I am not a doctor but I was put on Effexor 20 yrs ago. Not for depression but flushes due to menopause. The worse drug to get off. U can google it. I am struggling. Absolute Hell
I've been on Venlafaxine (Effexor) for 26 years. Three weeks ago I increased my dosage from 150 to 300 mg / day. I've been experiencing slightly blurry vision since the increase. I didn't think there might be a connection until I read your post.
I’m not on Effexor, but I have noticed some visual blurring, trouble focussing etc myself (citalopram/Vortioxetine withdrawal) but I found a page on this which was helpful. If you search on this site for ‘Visual Disturbances’ you should find it. I’m not sure how to link to it! Hope your symptoms reduce soon x
