Hi. Wow… I just read what I believe is the profile message you wrote. I am so sorry you went through all that. I had a similar experience except that I did try to not take any medication for years but I felt like I was burdening everyone around me with my misery so I decided to take medication. They misdiagnosed me for bipolar for decades. No medication helped me. It’s about five years ago that my psychologist who has a masters and can diagnose but not prescribe medicine told me that I don’t have bipolar but sounds more like borderline personality disorder. I got lucky because I forgot to take my lithium capsules for two months. I suffered throughout those two months. By the time I realized I forgot to take them and told my psychiatrist, she said congratulations! lol. The docs said that they believe that I don’t have bipolar and I possibly have borderline instead so they first started to taper me off of prolixin and that took years to get to where I am at which is no prolixin at all. They did the 0.5mg lowered dose every three months. I was at 6 mg. Now I only take guafacine for my adhd. I also have pmdd. The withdrawal symptoms never felt as bad as this last taper of prolixin. I am going to stick with not taking any meds to help ease the taper except for the regular guafacine, vitamins and I take synthroid every morning because that lithium messed up my thyroids. The prolixin also might have affected my blood sugar too because I currently have diabetes. I got a nutritionist to help me with keeping my diabetes in control and also an endocrinologist. I hope my shorten version of psych history help make you feel better. With me, I think it’s just every little thing in life affecting me at the same time. It’s family, job, and my physical and mental wellbeing all together that makes things very difficult.
