2nd Lexapro Update - Feeling Bad

August 18, 2026··
taper update
I believe I’m having a withdrawal period, I last changed my dose 6 weeks ago from 10mg to 7.5mg. I actually went from 10mg to 0mg in two weeks per my doctors recommendation and two weeks later, I had an acute attack of vomiting, full body shocks, all of it, so I went back on to a 7.5mg dose, and I’ve been stable until yesterday. Vomiting, horrible nausea, full body shocks, tingling in hands, hot flashes, truly the worst I’ve ever felt. Wondering if anyone has ever had this after 6 weeks of a dose change? Was planning to do small dose changes, but I’m definitely scared. Feeling bad. Been having bouts of nausea, electric shock sensations, gi upset, muscle aches, and sweating.

Hi RF, I'm sorry you're going through this. If it were me, I wouldn't make any more changes for awhile until your body can adjust to your current dose. You did a reduction then a rapid taper off followed by a large reinstatement dose. All of this can destabilize the nervous system. https://taper.community/thread/ff7ce496-025a-4391-95b4-cdd0063f092b Hang in there, things will get better in time!

Venlafaxine (tapering) - Current dose 17.92 mg
Trazodone - 50 mg
Levothyroxine - 25 mcg

Good luck and hang in there. You're not alone. I'm not going to pretend to know how you feel, my symptoms sound a lot more tolerable when I read what you're going through. One thing I learned with CBT is try to stay in the moment, get through the next few minutes, then hours, and try not to worry about the future looks like. It takes practice but your own thoughts are the one thing you can control. Worrying about what the future may or may not look like can cause excess worry and stress. I know, easier said than done, but it's helped me a lot.
