No help from GP

I've just asked my surgery here in the UK for help taping down from 25mg and they have said " just stay on this dose for two more weeks then stop altogether" I am so annoyed, let down and feel totally ignored. I sat and cried for half an hour. There is just no understanding what so ever!

Sorry to hear @Heather Shadow ... this is unfortunately far too common. If withdrawal were to get bad, do you have the option of going to the ER?

Im going to soldier on for now but will have to find the money to go privately. Thank you for being supportive. Here in the UK they just don't seem to be interested that much.

@Heather Shadow, may I ask how long you’ve been on Zoloft? Did you wish to taper? I’m so sorry you’re going through this time. Maybe someone here can give guidance with tapering as you continue to receive your script! Please don’t just stop taking it. Is there another dr or clinic you could reach out to?

@Heather Shadow, I think everyone can understand your frustration. I’ve heard,”Just start with cutting your tab in half and keep going!” That’s absurd. We’ve all been sold a lie. I’m sad and angered there’s so so many of us in this battle. I’ve not been in the group long, but it’s been a blessing. I’ve learned to give myself grace and not go too quick. We all want to be done. I had to really get myself to see that it’s not the timeline that matters. It’s how I’m doing and as long as I’m moving forward and advocating for myself, learning all I can, understanding that there’s no quick fix has helped me God bless you.

Venlafaxine (tapering) - Current dose 17.92 mg
Trazodone - 50 mg
Levothyroxine - 25 mcg

Please don’t stop at 25, especially with Zoloft and after taking it for 25 years. Trust me, it will cause a lot of unnecessary pain and suffering. You will need to go down very slowly and even then you might have to go even slower. There is a liquid version of the medication that can help you taper down very slowly. I would suggest starting there. Also if you make the switch from pill to liquid, hold for a good while before reducing. I did that and had no issues switching from pill to liquid. The taper on the other hand, has been another story. I’m finding that I may be one of those people that can’t come off and just has to stay on a very low dose.

Zoloft —50 mg to 15 mg — 8 years with a cold turkey and reinstatement in between— was liquid micro tapering, crashed at 14.275 mg and now holding at 15 mg.
