atypical in presentation of side effects, super sensitive to small doses and general delayed responder. never took a psych med that didn't' make me sick immediately with infections and restless legs. have never been able to tolerate being on them, but have never had support to get off so I've been bouncing back and forth. i don't like capital letters. sorry.

Hi thanks, it took a long time to put that together. Now I have the problem of getting clinicians to look at it. The answer to reversing PSSD could be sitting right there. I started distributing it, but if anyone can do anything with the information. I don't know. They may even agree with me and still wouldn't reply for fear of repercussions and liability. I feel like I'm fishing now. Here''s a copy of a email I sent to Johanna. Hi Dr. Moncrieff. I’m a person who has suffered serious adverse events from Cipralex. I’ve since recovered and taken to studying the pharmacology behind what drives PSSD. I made some important discoveries suggesting that, in PSSD, the 5-HT1A autoreceptor may remain uncoupled long-term. Researchers in a lab were able to turn anhedonia and sexual dysfunction on and off by using 5-HT1A silent antagonists in rodents. I was also able to find drugs that lower serotonin in the extracellular fluid are associated with people claiming they feel better, by matching online community reports of drugs they tried to treat themselves with. For example, amoxicillin is known to produce “windows.” When I looked up its effects on serotonin, it has been recorded to reduce extracellular fluid levels in the brain by around 50%. St John’s Wort, on the other hand, has a negative reputation: it increases serotonin in the extracellular fluid and makes PSSD sufferers feel worse. I reconstructed how I believe the receptors remain weak long-term, using fully cited research papers to form a hypothesis. I also included a few antagonist drugs that may promote the removal of arrestin and allow G-protein recycling to restart, allowing the autoreceptors to begin functioning and sensing serotonin correctly again. This in theory could allow for an environment to help people recover from PSSD. Fish all you want @Kevin Roy . I'll bite ! I think we all want to HELP others and turn this industry around. If I had a scientific mind, I'd probably do what you are doing. I'm more literary and am toying with starting a 12 step program...which will need information like you are providing. STay tuned. Who knows what we can accomplish as a group of victors/survivors who've suffered so much.

What do you think about the Dr. Powers Camp? They say it’s androgenic signaling issue? AFAIK serotonin doesn’t play any role in finasteride. So how do you explain that the symptoms are relatively similar? In many cases 1:1 the same? I appreciate your research btw, keep going.

@Leminaseri Behind the scenes I'm reaching out to professionals. My post to Dr. Powers forums attracted a lot of attention. But he hasn't been active on the forum. Regarding the androgenic signalling issue. Everything is connected. Antipsychotics, SSRI, PFS, BIND, PSSD, PAS etc. I'll do a post in the next day or two showing how. The low allopregnanolone weakens the GABA-A brake on the serotonin cell causing it to fire faster. While unproven this causes PFS; it is a direct link to the PSSD path. Finasteride plugs up the 5α-reductase which is the enzyme that converts testosterone into DHT. Lowering DHT levels lengthens the hair growth cycles. But it also starves the androgen receptors. This can like a SSRI, cause a cascade of downstream changes in the body. When people quit the drug, some hormone readings in the spinal fluid remain off. PSSD if my hypothesis is correct, is the result of a positive feedback loop keeping serotonin artificially high.
