Hi, I'm Zoe

June 29, 2026··
Hi I’m Zoe. I managed to taper my Lexapro down to 5mg but went back up to 10mg (I started at 20mg) due to work related issue. Now I am considering to taper again. I’ve been in lexapro for around 6-7 years so I guess I should probably do a pretty slow taper.

Hi Zoe, and welcome to Taper Community! I'm glad you're approaching things more cautiously this time. From everything I've learned, it's better to go slower and take longer with the taper rather than rushing through and suffering the consequences (ask me how I know). Have you set a date when you'd like to begin your taper? You can use the My Taper check-ins to track things as you go. Happy to have you here! Let us know if you have any questions, and reach out anytime! Catina ❤️

Venlafaxine (tapering) - Current dose 17.92 mg
Trazodone - 50 mg
Levothyroxine - 25 mcg

Hi Zoe! I'm also on Lexapro 10 mg. I'm holding for a while before I try to taper too. I've been on it 15 years and am ready to try to take on life on my own. I'm sending you my best wishes and hope things go well for you once you try another taper. I'm going to take it super slow, myself since I've been on it so long.

I took Lexapro 10 mg for one month, then reduced to 2.5 mg for a week before stopping. According to my doctor’s instructions, I did a linear taper. I had a wobbly feeling for about two weeks afterward. You should read the tapering blogs and go very slowly, it’s worth the effort. I had to stop Lexapro because of chronic weakness. I was already experiencing weakness from Aripiprazole, so it became too much.

- Aripiprazole / Abilify:
17-May-2026 (15mg -> 10mg)
11-July-2026 (10mg-> 7.5mg
17-Aug-2026 (7.5mg -> 5mg)
9 months - actively tapering
- Procyclidine 5mg - 9 months - actively tapering
- Propranolol - 20mg - 1 year - holding
- Xanax - 0.25mg - 7 months - holding

Hi! I’m new to this community, don’t know how to tag people, so hopefully this group sees my response. I have similar situation to Zoe. Would love a group to talk about the woes of tapering. I have been on Lexapro for 4 years, up to 25 mg, on 7.5 now after getting off for two weeks and had an AWFUL experience. Still a bit traumatized and scared, so looking for support.

Hi @RF, welcome! If you want to tag someone, use the "@" sign followed the member's username. It will bring up a separate window of all the member's names. Then you can choose the member you want. I'm sorry for your negative experience with tapering. Many people are given the wrong advice from their doctors, which lands them in severe withdrawal. It sounds like you were able to reinstate and now are trying to stabilize. Give yourself lots of time and try to be patient. I know it's hard! Once you're stable enough, then you can do a slow Hyperbolic taper off the rest of your Lexapro. Have a look around the site. There's tons of helpful information here. Let us know if you have any questions! Catina 💜

@Catina thank you! Is there a forum where people post or is all more individual? Just wondering how to connect with people more. Thanks!
