September 13, 2026

I have been on Duloxetine for 7 months and I do not like how I have felt on it so my Dr. & I discussed tapering off I started from 90 mg and now I am on 30 mg every other day. I am hoping to talk with others who are tapering or have tapered off Duloxetine

Hi Vonnie, Welcome to the community! What is your doctor doing with you? You said you started at 90 mg? Usually, Cymbalta is started at 30 mg, and from my experience, even that can already be too fast for some people. I’ve already been through all this nonsense that doctors tend to recommend, and for me it always resulted in severe withdrawal symptoms and setbacks. All I can say is that, from my experience, what your doctor is doing here is completely counterproductive. I’d be happy to support you and share what I’ve learned from my own experience. Sorry, you may have expected a different answer, but when I read some of the tapering advice doctors give, it honestly makes my stomach turn. Why were you originally prescribed duloxetine?

Cymbalta — 20mg(12mg) — 17 Jahre — holding -with clinician - 90 mg – 2021: First tapering attempt.
60 mg – 2023: Second tapering attempt.
With a doctor's supervision—but unfortunately, a doctor who doesn't know how to properly taper off an antidepressant.

"now I am on 30 mg every other day" — @Vonnie

Hi Vonnie, welcome! I don't know why doctors tell people to skip days, but please don't do this. Your brain needs as much stability as possible during tapering. Otherwise, it's a bit like playing ping pong with the brain. I'm glad Duloxi has already taken you under his wing. He's our Cymbalta pro! https://taper.community/resources/blog/every-other-day-dosing-tapering-risks https://taper.community/resources/blog/cymbalta-tapering-guide Catina 💕

Venlafaxine (tapering) - Current dose 16.64 mg
Trazodone - 50 mg
Synthroid - 25 mcg

If you want to reply to someone specific, just type “@ + name.” You may then be able to select their name from the list that appears. Or simply write the name of the person the reply is intended for as a heading.

"I am not understanding how I reply to each of you !" — @Vonnie

If you'd like to reply to something specific that another member says, you can highlight the portion you want and then click the button that says "quote and reply." It will then put that portion into a new reply window where you can respond. The member will then get notified that you responded to them. This post is an example of how that looks. I hope that makes sense and helps a bit!
