I’m currently tapering mirtazipine from 45mg. Currently on 11.5mg following a slow tapering. The next reductions are miniscule and I’m tempted to skip a few but trying to tell myself not to! I had a bad experience coming off mirtazipine last time as the reductions given by the doctor were much too fast. I have been on it for 7+ years. I ended up with akathisia and severe anxiety and panic attacks. Don’t want to go through that again! Great to be a member of this community and hearing others’ experiences!

Hi @Tazi, welcome to Taper Community! I'm sorry to hear about your experience from tapering too fast in the past. I can relate, believe me! Actually, the greatest changes in receptor occupancy happen at very low doses, so greater care needs to be shown at the end of the taper. I agree with @Catina , i was only on 1/4 of a mirt tablet (3.75) and tapered to 0.3mg in 3 months without too much drama. Going below 0.3 has been tougher and longer and that's the bit where you need to be more cautious. I would taper from 11.5 a little more adventurous till i got to 0.5mg. Obviously listen to you're body and at the first signs things are getting unbearable then backtrack to something in the middle. You've also the advantage of going through this before so you'll recognise the signs and know where your limits are. 0.5mg and below is the time to micro dose in my opinion. Good luck 🙂
