Some people choose to reinstate a tiny amount of the drug to help stabilize things, but it's best when done sooner rather than later. Hi Catina, My last dose was in May 2026. I was on Lithium 1000mg, Abilify 10mg, Prozac 60my + Valium 10mg as needed + Tercian 25mg as needed. I came off all this in the space of one month, I had been on them for about 5 years and prior to that I have been on various antidepressants for the last 20 years. In June I was put on Ritalin but came off it after a couple of months since my anxiety became unmanageable and I think at the same time the withdrawal from all the other meds started. To start with I had major panic attacks, strong nausea, a lot of crying, and brain zaps which lead to no sleep for a week. It felt like my brain was being ripped from my skull most of the time. Now I am suffering 24/7 with crippling Anhedonia, debilitating Anxiety, complete detachment from the world around me. I could write a book listing all the symptoms but I won't do that here. I have had to move back in with my elderly parents since I could no longer stay with my wife and children who need to enjoy life. I am 46 years old. I have lost everything and am trapped in a brain that I do not recognise. I am told the only thing I can do is wait it out, but it's not very reassuring when the waiting time could be yeas... The psychiatrist doesn't want to recognise that this could be protracted withdrawal and thought it must be just severe anxiety so he put me on Sertraline 100mg one month ago. I am going to stop (very gradually) the Sertraline in December if the anxiety hasn't calmed down which I doubt it will since this is protracted withdrawal not just anxiety.
