Hi I'm tapering from Effexor 75mg and hope to be free from it soon! I've been on Effexor for 10 years. I hate the way it makes me feel now and working with my doctor who understands my issues with trying to taper too quickly and experience terrible side effects. Any guidance from anyone who has successfully transitioned off it is appreciated.

Hi @Sheila, welcome! I'm also tapering Effexor. You've been on it for a long time, so take your taper as slowly as your own nervous system will allow. Taper Community recommends a Hyperbolic taper of no more than 10% each month. The doses will therefor get smaller and smaller as time goes on. The greatest changes in the brain happen at very low doses. Are you counting beads for your taper? This is what I do. I've been tapering extremely slowly and it seems to be serving me well. Effexor can be challenging due to its extremely short half-life.
