Welcome! Are you exploring other strategies for helping with insomnia, or found any that have helped?

Hi Stuart! Well, I think it is hard to explore other strategies when your nervous system and brain are dependent on so many chemicals. I explored CBT-i, but that won’t change the dependence to benzos and other sleep medications…I think tapering as much as possible and then fully exploring other things, like hopefully having energy for strenuous exercise, CBT-i again. I also completely quit alcohol and vaping (nicotine). These two severely mess up with your sleep. Eating anything late is another thing that worsens insomnia. Anything more than one coffee early in the morning. Screens (i have a projector I use on the wall to watch shows or movies…I don’t have a TV or use my laptop or phone at night). So all these things plus tapering. I was focusing on tapering the xanax but once I read the horrors of olanzapine, I am attacking that one first since my body is not fully addicted to it although your brain adapts to this poison fairly quickly (6-7 weeks on it and tapering by cutting the tiny pill into quarters 😳). Hey @Paola , that honestly sounds like you have some strategies already in place. But I understand being able to do more when you're in a better place. And you reminded me that I had be on Zyprexa 2.5mg the time I was also on Citalopram. When I tapered off those two I had a great Doctor and was in a really good place in my life so the process was almost unnoticable for me. I was also 20 years old which I suspect played a role in why it went smoothe. I remember cutting the pill! I'll have to add that to my signature, completely forgot about it. I wish you strength as you move forward with it 🙏.
