Hi, I'm MonsterEnergy

September 10, 2026··
Hi, I’m female, 34. I did a cold turkey withdrawal from alprazolam, not knowing I had a dependence. I was using it for 5 months to help with insomnia related to a large herniated disc in my back and sciatica. After two weeks this I reinstated with my doctor and am looking to begin a taper plan. I need help and support.

Hi @MonsterEnergy, welcome to Taper Community. Yes, unfortunately most psychoactive substances cause dependence and need to be carefully tapered. I'm sorry you went through a cold-turkey, and I hope you're stable now so you can begin tapering correctly.
