Hi, I'm Mom2gnj

July 11, 2026

I was on 300 mg Seroquel ER for 10 years plus 50 mg IR as needed for sleep. I am not bipolar - was placed on the med during heavy alcohol use and a mental breakdown. Sober since that time. Began tapering in Nov 25. Got down to 100mg pretty easily but rushed the last part of the taper as I had a lot coming up in my life and I wanted to be done. Had to reinstate to 100 mg IR after three week fully off the med. Now doing 10% or so taper around every month as tolerated. Currently on 81.25mg. My provider prescribed me compounded liquid to help with the small drops. I am still taking 50mg and 25mg in pill form and tried the rest (6.25mg) in liquid a couple of nights ago and it didn’t work. I woke up in the middle of the night in withdrawal. I am wondering if anyone has any tips or advice with the compounded liquid. If not, maybe water taper is the way?

Hey thanks for joining us! And congrats on the sobriety! Please keep us updated with checkins as you go, this is great for other people so they can learn from your experience. Also please share your knowledge and welcome new people! I would say that of youre having withdrawal that doesnt allow you to sleep it may warrant a step to a slightly higher dose. However it could also just be a wave of symptoms depending on when your last cut was.

Thank you. My last drop was around 10 days ago and I have been doing pretty good on 81.25 after dropping from 87.5. Only symptom has been a little heart racing which goes away with propanolol and is getting better, barely needing the propanolol now. The night I tried the liquid - I woke up at 1 am in intense panic and heart severely racing. Yes - I agree it could have just been withdrawal in general, but I wondered if maybe I didn’t get enough of the suspension from the compounded liquid. I am scared to try the liquid again but I really want it to work because I think it will make it easier as time goes on with the taper. Thanks.

Thats a valid concern, lets see maybe someone has some input, it would be weird if it was listed as a higher concentration than it is in reality but anything is possible i suppose

Hi @Mom2gnj, and welcome! I know some people have problems when switching immediately to liquid, so you may need to gradually cross over to it. Here is some information on how to do that: https://taper.community/thread/3516b46d-50b6-4048-9abc-533356b74afe I personally don't have experience with this since I'm counting beads with my own taper. Perhaps some other members will be able to provide some input. Slower is faster when it comes to tapering. Wishing you all the best! Catina 🩷

Venlafaxine (tapering) - Current dose 17.28 mg

Thank you so much. I tried only a small amount of the liquid (6.25mg) and took the rest in pills. Maybe it was just an anxiety spike unrelated to the liquid. I will try again tonight and see what happens.
