Hi, I'm Michelle1515

I’m David, my wife and I are looking for someone to help me taper off Paxil and Klonopin. My psychiatrist has put me on and taken me off about 10 different SSRIs/SSNI/antipsychotic over the last 18 months that I think I know have protracted withdrawal which has caused akathisia, tremors, stomach issues, etc. My wife quit her job to run my business since I couldn’t stay on top of things. I just want to get better but no one can help me.

Paxil — 35mg — 7 weeks — actively tapering | Klonopin — 1mg (.50mg 2x a day) — 18 months — researching taper | without clinician

Hi David, I'm truly sorry for what you're going through. Yes, frequently changing drugs and doses can cause issues. However, if you're currently experiencing such severe symptoms, it would be best if you didn't try to taper anything else at the moment. Your body needs stability and consistency. Any further changes could upset things further. Once you're more stable, then you can taper one drug at a time. It truly is challenging trying to find a qualified doctor that is knowledgable about tapering and withdrawal. You can search the Find a Clinician feature on the left sidebar of the site to see if there is someone near you. If you can't find someone and need help discussing the topic with your own doctor, we have information that can assist you in approaching the subject with them. If worse comes to worse, some people just taper on their own after getting the correct knowledge in how to do it safely. Please have a look around the site. There's lots of helpful information. I'm really glad you have a supportive wife who can assist you right now so you can get better. We have information too that can help family members understand psychiatric drug withdrawal. We look forward to supporting you and will assist you the best we can! Catina 💜
