Hi, I'm Maria A.
August 25, 2026··
Currently tapering liquid Zoloft at 14.275 mg from 50 mg. Have taken 8 years consistently with a cold turkey withdrawal 3 years ago and reinstatement after many months of suffering and attempted polypharmacy. Was stable on 50 mg after reinstatement and held for almost a year. I then started my taper 2 years ago, first going from 50 to 25 mg with minimal issues. I hit a wall when I got to around 22 mg and held for a couple of months. I then started my current liquid micro taper in January of this year mixing a 1 mL solution of Zoloft with 39 mL of water. I then remove .05 daily which has been very successful until recently.
One week ago, I started a new Zoloft liquid bottle and have hit either some withdrawal symptoms or side effects (not quite sure). What happened initially was I mixed the old liquid with the new liquid and started having issues. I then ordered a whole new bottle thinking I had messed up the formulation but still having significant issues. I confirmed with the pharmacy that it was from the same manufacturer and there is no indication there has been a change in the formulation. Since then, I've had severe nausea, gastro-issues, body temperature issues, anxiety, sadness, and general malaise. Thank goodness I am still sleeping which is normally the first thing to go in withdrawal.
After a conversation with Dr. Mark Horowitz we decided the best course of action is to hold the 14.275 until I feel better for a couple of weeks. Currently holding and having waves and windows but still generally feeling unwell. I can't tell if it's withdrawal or if its side effects from this batch being more potent. I also had significant nausea and side effects when I first started the Zoloft and this is somewhat reminiscent of that but also similar to withdrawal so I can't tell which one it is and why this happened right now when the taper was going well.
Anyways happy to be here and join this community.
Zoloft —50 mg to 15 mg — 8 years with a cold turkey and reinstatement in between— was liquid micro tapering, crashed at 14.275 mg and now holding at 15 mg.
