Welcome! Five years on mirtazapine is a solid chunk of time, and starting a taper at 25% cuts is ok but as the doses get smaller it could be difficult. 10% is the usual consenses for cuts. How have the first three weeks actually felt, any sleep disruption or that weird buzzing feeling? Hi @Katestthelake, welcome to Taper Community! As Based Psychiatrist said, things could get trickier the lower you get in dose. Take things slowly and really listen to what your body is telling you. Sometimes withdrawal symptoms can hit later, especially if a taper is too rapid or great. If it were me, I wouldn't reduce by more than 10% each month, but everyone is different in how they can handle things. Some are more sensitive to dose changes than others. Let us know your thoughts. You can either shave off portions of a whole pill or you can crush the entire thing. I have other stuff like auditory hallucinations and chronic fatigue syndrome, so this gets complicated. The first three weeks have been pretty good, I guess, everything considered. I’ll update as time goes by. Thank you for being here.

So far tapering has gone great at 25%. Began 8/21 but doubt I’ll wait a month to taper again. Too bad no MD desprescibers exist. Seems as if the need might exist.
