Hi, I'm Kat

July 28, 2026··
Was advised to “taper” off Zoloft in under 2 weeks back in February and am still suffering from withdrawals. Was on meds for over 10 years. Desperate for relief.

Hi, welcome to the Taper Community! Are you currently taking any medication? Since you quit cold turkey months ago, restarting it now could cause adverse reaction as discussed on the Surviving Antidepressants forum.

- Aripiprazole / Abilify:
17-May-2026 (15mg -> 10mg)
11-July-2026 (10mg-> 7.5mg
17-Aug-2026 (7.5mg -> 5mg)
9 months - actively tapering
- Procyclidine 5mg - 9 months - actively tapering
- Propranolol - 20mg - 1 year - holding
- Xanax - 0.25mg - 7 months - holding

Hi @Kat...welcome. I'm really sorry you were taken off Zoloft so quickly despite being on it for such a long time. Most doctors are not properly trained in safe deprescribing. What symptoms are you having? What is your level of day-to-day functioning? As far as reinstating Zoloft, it's hard to say how you would react. Some have found that a very small reinstatement can relieve symptoms while others cannot tolerate it and it can make things worse. What are your thoughts about this? Please know that even people who do fast tapers can heal in time. Here is some information that I hope will help you to recover: https://taper.community/thread/57d0fb51-6e6e-4517-9d3d-1dd2f2e3880c https://taper.community/thread/ec72f5e5-39fe-4f0e-b3c9-083b3e99d1c3 https://taper.community/resources/blog/windows-and-waves-withdrawal-pattern We're here whenever you need to reach out. Hang in there, things eventually do get better with time! Catina 🩷

Venlafaxine (tapering) - Current dose 17.92 mg
Trazodone - 50 mg
