When you're able to, create a Signature (in Settings) that gives an overview of what drugs your daughter is on. That would be appreciated. Thank you so much for your response. My daughter had issues, abusing Adderall and was a daily marijuana user also, so that complicates everything. She recently came out of a psychiatric ward and is now in a trauma recovery home. I’ve talked to the owner, and I am trying to help her understand the importance of coming off this medication and coming off of it properly. She has already said she does not like this medication due to the side effects so I am hoping she will assist me in properly removing my daughter from this medication. I believe my daughter was never given informed consent about this medication or any of the other ones she is taking or has taken. So at this point, I don’t know if my daughter even sees the need to get off of these medications. Many have said these drugs are like a lobotomy in a pill and the person does not see the harm they are causing. She has only recently been admitted to this trauma program and I feel like I’m between a rock and a hard place because I do not want her to have another psychotic episodes and get put into the psych ward again where they will probably put her on more drugs. At the same time, I know it’s very important to taper her properly or this could also throw her into another psychotic episode. It’s so frustrating because I feel like we made progress getting her off the Adderall and marijuana but now she is on this drug and Cymbalta. She has been on Cymbalta for a little over a year now and before that was on other SSRI’s. Im starting to feel a little hopeless about the situation.

You're very welcome. Informed consent is rarely given to people in situations like this. I understand your dilemma here, and I feel for the position both you and your daughter are in. Since she was a marijuana user, do you think her psychosis could have been triggered by that? It happens a lot to people and then they end up on psych drugs. I'm just putting that thought out there since I don't know much about your daughter's history. I'm glad she has been able to get off the Adderall and marijuana. Long-term antipsychotic use can cause all sorts of health issues. You can use Google AI or even ChatGPT to do some research and share it with her. At least you know that if she agrees to taper off that you're armed with good information as to how to do it safely. 👍

Thank you so much for your input. Yes, I definitely think the marijuana caused the psychosis. I’ve also heard that within 4 to 8 years after an event like this the person has almost a 50% chance of being diagnosed with schizophrenia. Makes me wonder if the schizophrenia diagnosis is due to the fact that when the person was on the psych hold they put them on long-term antipsychotics. I have read a lot about this subject, and do believe it could in fact be the cause.
