Hi, I'm IndigoBay35
Hi everyone,
I am trying (waiting) to stabilise on 5mg Olanzapine after a reinstatement from an abrupt discontinuation lasting 12 days or so.
I was originally prescribed the medication for sleep after coming off benzodiazepines 9 months ago but didn’t know just how quickly dependancy would develop. When I realised I was experiencing withdrawal between sporadic doses I made the mistake of stopping abruptly in the hope that dependancy and withdrawal would be only minor and manageable. But it was not the case. Withdrawal was brutal to a nervous system that hadn’t yet recovered from the benzodiazepine withdrawal.
So, here I am… still reeling from that abrupt stop, waiting to stabilise.
Although I am not in a position to begin a taper yet (far from it), I do want to get out ahead of it and get all my ducks in a row regarding how to do a water taper using the 5mg dissolvable tablets.
I’ve done a dry hyperbolic taper in the past and understand the math involved, but I don’t quite understand how to do the math to make 5% reductions from each current dose converting mg to mls.
Also, how much water would I need to use to dissolve the tablet in order to still make accurate reductions when the doses eventually get down to the low end.
I may have other questions crop up, but if someone out there has used and understands this water taper, I would greatly appreciate some guidance 🙏🏻
