Hi, I'm Hopeful
July 10, 2026··
I have taken Trazodone for around eight years. I started at 100 mg and took 1.5 years to taper to 50 mg. I took a break, switched to a 50 mg pill and tapered with water to 12 mg. That took 1.5 years. Now I am stuck.
The brand of Trazadone I was taking was discontinued. When I took the new brand, I had anxiety. My FM doctor said she would help me with my taper so I switched to 12 mg capsule compounded with lactose. I put in 12 ml water.
I had been taking a 50 mg tablet in 5 ml water and discarding the appropriate amount.
So here is my problem: my last cut was 0.5 mg. I experienced terrible depression, insomnia, mind racing, and tinnitus, and sometimes anxiety. It took around a month to level out so I knew I needed to slow down my taper.
I have been on the capsule form for 8 days and am experiencing insomnia and anxiety. I haven’t tapered. I know mixing with water isn’t an exact science but I have tried to be careful and consistent. I think I am experiencing this because my method has changed but hoping I have not made things worse.
