Hello everyone. I have had a long run of severe chronic pain among other functional issues. Long story short I knew I had severely injured myself, and then created more injuries when PT was started without a proper diagnosis. All the doctors wanted to do was give me drugs, and then when compensatory issues began cascading I got falsely labeled a fibromyalgia case. I foolishly took the meds, hoping to just prove I had a physical problem. I was able to get off of high doses of gabapentin and lyrica when those were tried. Valium was started to treat PFD after a groin injury, then I was kept on it after the switch to the fibro diagnosis. I managed to slowly taper myself from 20mg to 10mg about a year ago, going any further (even in tiny increments) gave me severe mental issues. I am also on LDN 4.5mg (least worrisome, no side effects other than vivid dreams). The worst was the duloxetine. I took it only to prove that by it not doing anything I could disprove their theory and finally get an MRI ordered. They convinced me to go as high as 90mg before I told them no more and I want off. I did fine getting down to 40mg, but the drop to 20mg killed me. Extreme fatigue, hot flashes, head and neck feel like I have a fever all the time. I just started on 10mg fluoxetine to help get me off these drugs as we can only taper one at a time. Just here to meet people in similar situations so I know and find out what to expect, along with advice from those further along than myself. I also hope to help others with strategies for managing the mental side, as I have learned to control my thoughts through necessity.
