I was on 150mg Quetiapine for 18 months. As an adjuctive with Venlafaxine 225. It has been 9 weeks since the tapering from Quetiapine ended. I feel awful. Aches,pains, no appetite, acidic stomach. Headaches and exhaustian. Is this normal? If it is how much longer will it go on?

Thank you for sharing your experience. I am sorry to hear you feel awful right now. Could you share some more information about your taper? How long was your taper? And did you feel bad during the taper, imidiately after stopping or later? Hope it gets a bit easier soon!

Zoloft — current 2.8 mg — 6 years — actively tapering - tapered from 50 mg

Hi Daisy, I had an acidic stomach, headaches and exhaustion amongst other symptoms when I dropped to 100 quetiapine too quickly, I didn't know it was too fast at the time. My acidic stomach has got better and the headaches have gone, I'm still battling with lethargy at the moment but I'm sticking with it and waiting for healing. I hope this reassures you that things do get better 🫂

Seroquel — 400+ — 22 years —down to 100 in 6 months, 100 is taking a lot of time to get used to so resting on 100 for as long as it takes. holding without clinician. A journey of 1000 miles starts with a single step 👣🌀

Hi again Horizon, I'm happy to hear a lot of your symptoms have resolved on 100, sounds like you are stabilising now, fantastic! And if you're happy to stick at that dosage for a while, even better. As you know, it's not a race, everyone's brain is different what it can take, I think it's called "neuroplasticity." I'm still going well myself too, now trying to cut out coffee, Sadly, I love the stuff but reducing it has got me to almost normal sleep again. Stay well, R.

@renee j Hi ☺️ I still get internal buzzing and until that stops, I won't taper anymore for now. I'm high risk for tardive dyskenisia which is irreversible, I don't know if the buzzing feeling is connected but I don't feel I can carry on tapering until I have felt completely back to normal for a few months. After the day on 75mg, I learnt my lesson and I will be very cautious now. Great news about the sleep, well done for cutting down on your caffeine 😘

Hi Horizon, I'm just curious as I've never heard of internal buzzing before. Is it like tinnitus, that you can actually hear? Or like an internal vibration. Whatever it is, doesn't sound too good and hope it passes quickly. Best, R.

No I can't hear it Since dropping to 100 too quickly I've had tiny pinprick electric shock type sensations on my arms, this has stopped now. One time I was dozing off and I had a jolt of electric stop me, but it only happened once For a long while now what I call internal buzzing or vibrations, feels like a buzz sensation inside my body, just under my skin, particularly in my face, my cheeks, tongue, lips, and nose. Mostly my cheeks now, and my toes, still my toes, especially right big toe. I've heard of something called parasthesia, which is burning, tingling or prickling sensations, similar to when you get pins and needles. But the buzzing is more vibrational, but similar as a way to kind of try and describe it for you I think coffee and sugar make this worse for me When I started to reduce from 400, I used to feel like someone touched my cheek once with their finger as I was falling asleep at night mainly. I'm wondering if this is also because of the same reason, it's called phantom touches. I still get this sometimes I think it's to do with the damage done to my central nervous system by The Q

Hmm, interesting, though not in a pleasant way of course. Sudden jolts that come when you are trying to get off to sleep I've had, not lately thankfully, seem to be just a surge of cortisol from a rather sensitised nervous system, maybe after too much caffeine or a recent heavy meal. Sugar or sugary foods and soft drinks would do it too I think. So, as you were thinking, cutting down on the sugar and coffee (ordinary tea has caffeine too, though about a third that of coffee); it wouldn't hurt to try.

With the low histamine thing I found a nice cosy warm drink of rooibos tea with coconut milk and a tiny drop of maple syrup, it's lush.😋 I've come across people online who can't eat out because they've had to change their diet, bless them. Or they'll just have water or whatever so they can just socialise. We just become a bit different to everyone else for a while during our healing process. Some people have to take a step back from life because of the stress. I'm trying to help spread awareness on my Instagram so people can be informed and aware of the realities that is happening to a lot of people globally with PsychMed harm. Also water is good to help protect your liver from the effects of Q. I found that out the other day, so I'm upping my water intake Another handy tip ☺️

Actually most people don't drink nearly enough water and are going around quite dehydrated. A bit of a problem if your tap water is chlorinated where it was where I used to live, tastes dreadful. But ours is only fluoridated to protect our teeth (bit late for me) and tastes fine. Where do you get this rooibus tea from? Sounds quite nice. I bought some Japanese green tea the other day to cut down on my caffeine (lol) only to discover it has a fair bit, though not as much as coffee, or ordinary tea for that matter. I have a Malay friend over the road who will be getting that , she drinks loads of it. All the best with spreading the word, what the drug companies have done to deliberately suppress the knowledge of the damage their stuff is doing, partly by ruining the careers of clinicians who do speak out, is quite shocking and disgraceful. Dr Josef has a lot to say on the matter, what a godsend that man is!

Rooibos and rooibos green tea is even better, the brand name is Freshpak or Tick Tock. It's redbush tea from south africa. Both caffeine free. They should be in your supermarket. Green tea has caffeine but is released slower into the body, which is probably why it doesn't feel so bad. The Japanese one sounds nice. Have you listened to Dr Mark Horowitz. If you go click into resources, then learn, you'll see some of his videos. I've just ordered a couple of booklets from the holistic psychiatry clinic where he works in London to help me. I'll let you know what they're like when I get them I'll have a look at Dr Josef aswell ☺️

Thanks, we have a lot of South African immigrants living around here, having fled from the violence in SA, so have quite a few shops selling SA foods plus at least one of our two major supermarket chains, and were listed on Google so that's something for tomorrow. Dr Josef mentions Dr Horowitz very favourably so I'll have a look at what I can find there. Knowledge is power, right?
