Hi, I'm CoralFern

Hi @CoralFern, welcome! I take Trazodone too, but I haven't tapered it yet. How have things been going? You did a 50% reduction, so that's a pretty big jump. If symptoms become really bothersome, then you may need to hold your dose for awhile and then taper by a lesser amount next time. We recommend Hyperbolic tapering here at Taper Community - monthly reductions of no more than 10% of the previous month's dose. The reductions will therefore get smaller and smaller as time goes on. The greatest changes in receptor occupancy happen at very low doses, so tapering this way is safer and easier on the brain. Of course, the greatest thing you'll need to worry about is rebound insomnia. If you go to the Symptoms and Self-Care section of the forum and click on the Guides tab, you'll find lots of helpful information and tips on how to deal with sleep issues. Wishing you the best with your taper! Catina 💜 https://taper.community/drugs/trazodone https://taper.community/resources/blog/trazodone-withdrawal-and-discontinuation

Thanks for the message, Catina. I never would have requested a prescription for trazadone if I had done some research.

You're very welcome! Please keep us updated with how things are going.

I had to go back to 50mg :(. The GI issues were too much for me. I have recently had a case of SIBO and I just don't think my gut has recovered enough. I will definitely do a much more gradual taper, too. This is frustrating, though.
