Hi @Ciara, and welcome!
You've come to the right place to learn about safe tapering. Have a look at the Learn section to read about Hyperbolic tapering, and why it's the best and safest way to taper. It's recommended to taper by no more than 10% each month of the previous month's dose. The reductions will get smaller and smaller the closer you get to zero. These drugs still have powerful effects on the brain's serotonin receptors even at so-called "low" doses. Some people have to reduce by less than 10%; it's all about finding what works best for you.
In the Resources section, you'll find clinical information about Prozac, which can be helpful. Prozac has a very long half-life, but it can still cause withdrawal symptoms if tapered too quickly or by too much. Slower is really faster when it comes to tapering. You've been on Prozac for a very long time, so it's going to take time for your brain to adjust. The key is to listen to your body and slow things down if your symptoms become unmanageable.
You're not alone in this, and we'll be here to help you every step of the way! Have a look around the site and let us know how we can further help!
