Hi, I'm Cheryl

July 9, 2026··
I’m tapering from Abilify. I’ve ben on it 3 years. I came to TaperCommunity because my prescriber doesn’t know how to do a slow taper. She says to take my 1 mg tablet every other day for 2 months and then stop altogether. I hope to find a deprescriber I can work with.

Abilify — 1 mg — 3 years — researching taper | Lithium (carbonate / citrate) — 300 mg — 3 years — researching taper | without clinician

Hi Cheryl! Welcome...so glad to have you here! Yes, unfortunately most doctors are trained to do rapid linear tapers. They also give the horrible advice of skipping days, which is not recommended! Your brain needs as much stability as possible when tapering, and skipping days is like playing ping-pong with your brain. If you use the Find a Provider feature, hopefully you can find a provider near you. If you have issues please let us know! Catina 🩷

Venlafaxine (tapering) - Current dose 17.92 mg
Trazodone - 50 mg
Levothyroxine - 25 mcg
