I am here to find information from people tapering so that I can support my son who is tapering. I am hoping also to help him avoid any future mistakes as tapering mistakes have caused him to be misdiagnosed and has created nervous system instability. I am also looking for information on micro-tapering using liquids AND tapering success stories

Hi @CELLA and welcome! Your son is fortunate to have such a caring parent. Yes, unfortunately many times withdrawal symptoms get mistaken for other mental "illnesses" and then other drugs are added. Welome @CELLA I can't speak about complete success story from my side. But I managed to reduce to 7.5mg from hardcore dose of 30mg. I don't know how old is your son or dose that you are on, but introducing Magnesium, and ideally Omega 3 EPA dominant or fully EPA for mood support helps a lot when tapering. Avoiding sugar and caffeine and stimulants in general was a big turning point for my taper, so that it got easier. I started noticing that I need to slow down a lot going down from 10mg. You need to get familiar with liquid tapering. I think I am ready now with all the knowledge gathered. Any questions I will be glad to answer.🙂

I'm also tapering off abilify using the water suspension method. Here is a video of @zlatinb preparing small doses of abilify for tapering: https://youtu.be/FJpGO4VrsWA. Make sure to stir the water really well before drawing out your dose or water to waste, and remember to check how well tablets from different brands suspend. Some suspend much better than others, while some sink immediately depending on the brand.
