Hi, I'm Bridgette

July 26, 2026ยทยท
Hi. I have finished my SSRI taper which took 7 months after 16 years on various SSRIs and now busy tapering off Amitriptyline. Was on 25mg for 7 years and 10mg for 3 years for pain. It has taken me a year to get from 10mg to 2.25mg. I dropped from 2.5mg to 0 and had to reinstate back at 2.5mg as withdrawal was severe. I am now liquid tapering (homemade solution) down in 10 percent increments. I think it's still to big a drop as have been on 2.25mg for 10 weeks and still not stabilised. I am going to hold this dose until I stabilise and then hold for an extra 2 months. The waves are so bad at the moment.

Hi @Bridgette, and welcome! Glad to have you here with us. Thanks for sharing your experience. If you find that 10% is too much you can always reduce by a lesser amount or hold much longer between drops. The key is to keep listening to your body and adjust things accordingly. It's better to go slower than to reduce faster than what our brain can keep up with. What symptoms in particular are you dealing with? We look forward to supporting you through the rest of your taper! https://taper.community/drugs/amitriptyline Catina ๐Ÿฉต

The symptoms at the moment are tingling in hands and feet, nausea, dizziness, nervousness and crying a lot. I am in week 13 since my last drop from 2.5mg tablet to 2.25mg in liquid form. Can't believe such a small drop is causing such distress.

I'm sorry. It seems like you're very sensitive to changes. I am too, and you're not alone. Keep taking things slow, holding when necessary. We don't want to keep pushing through more reductions if we're not stable enough. I know it's hard. Give yourself lots of time for things to settle down. I hope you're able to keep things low stress in your life and are treating your body well in the meantime. ๐Ÿ’œ
