Can you provide a list in the Drug History signature area of your profile? She'll want to taper one drug at a time. Many of these drugs can actually cause suicidal thoughts and behaviors. Hi Catina - my daughter has Autism and is severely suicidal. Medications are Ativan 1 mg 6 a day Duloxetine 60 mg am Amitriptyline 35 mg pm Lamotrigine 150 mg am Largactil 12.5 mg pm Minipress 1mg pm Quetiapine 150 mg pm Olanzapine 10 mg prn Also on panadeine forte pm for broken elbow. My daughter has put on a lot of weight over the past 3 yrs - now 100 kg . This is affecting her physically and mentally . She is reducing the largactil at present to try to eliminate it due to weight gain. She is a very anxious, unhappy 28 yr old who does not do well with reducing medication.

Thank you for providing that information. Maybe she'll find that reducing some of these drugs will actually help her to feel better. I know that antipsychotics are notorious for causing weight gain and metabolic issues. Have you heard of Metabolic Psychiatry? It's showing great promise with using a Ketogenic diet for severe mental health issues. It might be something to look into. Many people have been able to get off all their medications and are thriving.

Unfortunately she has been on her quetiapine for years so i know getting her off that would be a huge challenge. Yes i have heard of the ketogenic diet and its success with mental illness. I just wish i knew who to contact in Australia to guide us. I like your advice though.
