I’m 48 and female. I’ve been dealing with concerns of feeling no life or joy and empty on my meds for years , and worry that when I try to get off them I feel super sad and emotional so I go back up or back on . But when I’m on it’s only gotten worse and my depression seems worse. I have no energy, motivation, joy, desire for anything in life. I’ve watched my life just passing me by. I don’t date my career suffers due to my mind set and no motivation. Nobody gets how I feel. I truly have never really been able to explain it to anyone and just felt I’m add or lazy and no hope. I started a tiny baby dose of glp-1 16 months ago and finally realized that was making this all even worse and researched what is going on. It finally made me want to get help to get off the meds and find a safe way to do it. My life has never been the way it was prior to meds. It’s like I don’t even remember the person I used to be. I had so much vibrance and personality and worked out at 5 am daily and loved it! I can’t even get a little part time job because I know I don’t have the drive to keep it up and it will show in my mood and I won’t be a value to them. All o do is hang with dog and work. I’m an attractive petite in shape girl and have wasted so much of my life due to this. I took meds to get me out of a horrible time. But I think the meds are what actually made the time worse!! I just kept feeling like I could t get off and docs said I needed a different one. So when I started this 14 years ago it made me feel as if I could just survive and not spiral. Well that’s all I’ve done now for 14 years is survive. My life has really only gotten worse and worse but people on the outside don’t know how bad because the meds keep me surviving… with no joy or feeling whatsoever. I can cry and I get very irritable so I didn’t think it was flatlining me. But it’s done something to my brain where I’m never ever ever happy!!!!!

Hi AM! Welcome to the TC! 🙂
First, reject those feelings that you can't ever be happy - that's a big lie the enemy is feeding you. God wants you to have joy and an abundant life.🙏
Your brain was quite capable of composing that post, it definitely can heal and create new, positive neural pathways too.
Second, you are having some difficult symptoms, but it sounds like you can sleep decent enough. So you're getting a break there. A lot of us have difficult symptoms that last day & night - no break. 😵
Also, you're not a child but you're also not that old for starting this challenge. There are many many of us well over 50, and Ive contacted posters over 80 who are beginning new lives. Counting your blessings and ignoring your woes is a great 1st start.
I've been in bad depression and I know it's hard to disagree with your feelings, but please realize you are separate from them. It takes time and patience but you can do it!
Come up with a plan to reduce your meds and get active in life. The 10% hyperbolic drop each month is a great start. You'll get plenty of support and encouragement on this site! 🙂
Zyprexa started at 2.5mg in late April26 — 0.65mg at Oct26 — actively tapering Doxepin (Silenor / Sinequan) — started at 2mg in June26 - 0.5mg at Oct26 — actively tapering
Thank you. I’m not sure how to use this app and see things others post and say. Is there a feed where posts just come up daily and you read all of them and read comments?
