Dropped 20mg in one day

Yikes idk about Cymbalta but I also learned the hard way about not tapering too quickly. Go slow!!!!

Hi ErinW, After taking Cymbalta for more than 17 years and having over 10 years of experience with attempts to taper off it, I personally haven’t come across anyone who was able to taper this way without experiencing withdrawal symptoms. Skipping doses and taking it only every other day can also be very risky and may trigger withdrawal symptoms, especially because of the relatively short half-life of the medication. Try to take your dose consistently at the same time every day. Going from 60 mg to 40 mg is a 33% reduction, which is a huge adjustment for the nervous system to make all at once. I wouldn’t be surprised if such a large reduction led to symptoms such as depression, anxiety, or even suicidal thoughts. I don’t want to scare you, but I’ve been through this often enough myself, and I don’t want you to have to experience the same thing. If you’re already noticing that you’re feeling significantly worse, I would discuss it with your doctor as soon as possible and ask about returning toward the previous dose until you’re stable again. After that, you could discuss a much slower, hyperbolic taper. It’s also really helpful to document your symptoms throughout the taper. A single day doesn’t tell you much—the trend over several days is much more important. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out.

Anyone feel worse going back on Paxil? I had to reinstate after a severe withdrawal. I’m at 20 mg. First 4 weeks were decent. Weeks 5 and 6 have been brutal. Scary depression.
