Anxiety
September 23, 2026··
Hi everyone!
Since trying to stopp Zoloft twice I have a lot of anxiety. Even though I am tapering slowly I get these waves of anxiety that can be triggered by the smallest thing (loud noise, getting a phone call, thinking about a topic...), it leaves me unable to do much and it can go on the whole day. Two days later I might feel better and way more confident about the things that scared me before. I used to wake up in a complete panic during early taper attempts, it's better now, but I am still scared to be this scared forever.
I get so scared that that's who I am now, that I have a massive anxiety issue. Or that I will have some kind of trauma from going through withdrawal so many times. Sometimes I don't know how to think about this clearly. It's a visceral, fundamental kind of panic, I sometimes call it existencial dread, I feel like in the upside down in stranger things, that's what I always say.
Also my ears are ringing, I can't think clearly and I can't eat much during a day like this. The strangest symptom is having a really strong gagging reflex, it's unsettling.
I don't want to be too doom&gloom, I now everyone here is struggling. Maybe there is someone with similar experiences.
Zoloft — current 2.8 mg — 6 years — actively tapering - tapered from 50 mg
