42nd Effexor Update - Feeling Okay

April 16, 2026··
taper update
I'm starting to feel the effects of my April 1st bead drop. I got up too quickly in the middle of the night to use the restroom and felt dizzy. I still feel a bit dizzy today, but it's not too bad. My vision was also blurred this morning, although it's better now. I'm also feeling a bit of increased anxiety, but nothing major. In addition, I just feel a bit "off." It's hard to put into words exactly, but I can definitely feel the effects of the drop. All in all, things could be worse so I can't complain too much. Sending peaceful and healing vibes to my fellow TC members today! ❤️

Do you feel it took 2,5 weeks to really start? In my mind i‘m still adjusted to the „starts at day 3 and takes another 2 weeks“. But indeed, after the last taper my own view of it should have changed, It‘s just different in low doses. I also found it interestingly harsh when waking up in the night after a little sleep when starting a taper. Contrasting to the big pupils i had when waking up at night after getting on those meds. I think i know what you mean with feeling „off“, it feels like a (very) light depersonalisation or disorientation for me. I‘m very glad it‘s pretty okey and hope it‘s staying that way. Sending best wishes and a calm day 🤗

off Stimulants (2000-2013)
off Fluoxetine (2010-2013)
off Lamotrigine (2013-2016)
off Quetiapain (2016-2020)

currently Effexor — 33mg — 13 years (from 300mg) — actively tapering | with clinician

Yes. For me, it has always taken close to 3 weeks for me to feel the effects of a drop.

That's interesting that it takes that long for your body to recognize the bead drop. I like that you're aware of the pattern for you, that's half the battle sometimes - you know what to expect at this point. Hang in there 💜 Sending peaceful and healing vibes back to you.
