4th Zoloft Update - 5,867mg

March 3, 2026··
taper update
Well, overall, a fairly stable stretch. I tried doubling the reduction today, but tomorrow I’ll go back to the usual cut, mainly because I’ve been quite stable lately. It’s risky, since the effects of increasing the reduction tend to show up a few days later. On the other hand, I’m still experiencing brain zaps and that sensation in the pit of my stomach (PVC? Vagal hits?*), difficulty falling asleep, and an inability to relax after physical activation. I’ve said it before, but one of the key things helping me is controlling the intensity: physically, mentally, and emotionally. In earlier stages, worry would turn into mania, fear into terror, and physical activation into a perceived threat of death. But knowing that those of us who are tapering have somewhat faulty brakes, we can’t just slam the accelerator. For now, we move forward carefully. *(Those sensations in the pit of my stomach are what unsettle me the most. I’m not sure if it’s my heart, my stomach, or muscles. Most likely it’s the heart, because I’ve sometimes felt these sensations while checking my pulse, and they seemed like irregular beats. But it seems the heart is healthy (did tests); it’s a nervous system glitch, which makes sense. Still, there have been times when I noticed these jolts while checking my pulse and the beats appeared regular…)

I was also constantly worried about these sensations in the pit and am still not sure about it, it‘s hard to locate, doesn’t quite feel like the heart but i also noticed it as extrasystole when checking the pulse! It needs quite some time but does go away 🙂

off Stimulants (2000-2013)
off Fluoxetine (2010-2013)
off Lamotrigine (2013-2016)
off Quetiapain (2016-2020)

currently Effexor — 33mg — 13 years (from 300mg) — actively tapering | with clinician

Yes! I haven't mentioned it, but I've spent months feeling them constantly, and now I usually have streaks of 17 days without feeling them. In Dec of 2025, I tried not lowering the dose for several days, and I only felt one all month. It's very important that if you feel the following: ➤ extrasystoles ➤ premature beats ➤ thuds ➤ flops or flutters ...while tapering, you know that the cause is not the heart; it is an unstable nervous system, which with patience gets better and is very plastic! (To clarify, not all cases may be like this, but the most likely and frequent scenario is that it is.)
