Feeling poor. Been having bouts of insomnia and nausea. I went from sleeping 1-2 hours one night and then sleeping 7-8 hours another night to only sleeping consistently 4 hours per night for the past almost three nights. When I would sleep the 7-8 hours I would have a window day but since my body started only sleeping 4 hours, I’ve had only wave days. Please tell me this gets better with time.

I am convinced you will get better. Every time I feel very bad I think it will be like that forever, but it isn't. I even write it down for myself because I forget. It gets better

Thank you Ani- this has been so incredibly hard. When did you feel like you turned a corner with your sleep after your updose? I think the lack of sleep is what is holding me back and makes all the other symptoms so much worse.

Good sleep is so important, not sleeping makes all the other things feel even more difficult. I think it took a few weeks, maybe two months to sleep properly, I struggled with waking up at night and early morning feeling panicked. It still happens occasionally but way less. But a good night here and there is already a good sign, with time it's more of the good nights, less of the bad ones

So I was having a good night followed by a bad night but lately I’ve had three 4-5 hour nights and feel absolutely miserable the next day. It’s almost like I’m hungover/poisoned. The problem I have is sleep onset but once I’m asleep, I can usually sleep through the night.

Do you always get up at the same time? I try to do that to train my body when to sleep and when to be awake. But I have to admit I don't always manage to go through with it even though it helps me. Once I stabilize a bit I get incredibly tired and fatigued and sleep a lot. Maybe it's the body healing? I also tried sleeping routines and rituals, calm evening activities and a weighted blanket. Also I took Magnesium or Melatonin in the evening, but I don't love it because I am worried about adding substances to an already unstable system. All of this didn't fix everything but I think it helped a bit and made me feel like I can actively do something. Did you notice anything that helped you?

Yes, I try to stick to my same wake up routine and go to bed and wake up at the same time. I also do all the sleep techniques with no phone, dim lights, dark room, and none of it has been working. I also take magnesium and melatonin but that hasn’t worked either. Last night was another fragmented 3-4 hour sleep night. I just want me sleep back so bad.

I am really sorry to hear that your sleep is so unstable right now, you are doing all the right things and still. There is a good night for you in the near future and even more after, I am sure of it! What a challenging journey this is

I really hope so Ani because this is unmanageable right now. Did you ever take any type of sleep aid other than melatonin and magnesium? My doctor wants me to take gabapentin short term just until I stabilize on the 15 mg dose.

I have no experience with Gabapentin to share. I tried melatonin in a high dose (5mg), helped a little I guess. I also found out, on surviving antidepressants or Reddit I think, that some people took Hydroxyzine if it was to bad. I tried it (sketchy of course, should have talked to a good doctor first but I didn't trust the doctor I had access to ...) I asked my doctor about it after it seemed to help, she told me she prescribes it to people in benzo withdrawal sometimes and I got a prescription. I don't love it, makes me drowsy, but it helped me in the darkest times. I never took it everyday, I am too scared to get dependent on something again.

I’ve tried melatonin but it’s done nothing. I also tried hydroxicine, clonodine and remelteon (strong prescription melatonin) and also nothing so my doctor wants me to try low dose gabapentin. Can I ask how your sleep came back after your updose? Was it first sleeping a couple of hours and then eventually it leveled out week by week?
