24th Zoloft Update - Feeling Poor

September 18, 2026··
Feeling poor. Been having bouts of nausea, insomnia, headache, depression, electric shock sensations, and gi upset. I had a panic attack last night and couldn’t sleep. I had burning in my arms the whole night and adrenaline surges. I feel awful today. Please when will I finally stabilize?

Zoloft —50 mg to 15 mg — 8 years with a cold turkey and reinstatement in between— was liquid micro tapering, crashed at 14.275 mg and now holding at 15 mg.

Hi, I am sorry to hear that you are having a difficult time right now. For me, it took some time to stabilize after a crash, improvement was slow but came eventually, first I started to have short windows where I felt better and it got even better from there. I tried to distract myself as good as I could and take tiny steps like drinking water or sitting outside in nature for a short time. It is very frustrating and it can feel like it takes forever. But I hope you get some relief soon!

Thank you Ani for your kind words. Could you share your crash with me? How long did it take you to stabilize? I’ve been having some windows but without my sleep being consistent I tend to fall back into a severe wave. I’m praying I can stabilize soon.

Last time I crashed was at 3 mg and I reinstated to 5 mg (maybe that was a bit too high). I suddenly had severe anxiety, insomnia, fatigue, very negative thoughts, nausea and unfortunately akathasia for a few days, it was a difficult time but after around 1-2 months I started to feel better during afternoons (I take the medication in the morning). Mornings continued to be difficult for a bit longer and I would still wake up early with anxiety. I wrote down how I felt twice a day (just a number) to see the positive trend over a longer time period. Stay strong! The windows were the first sign of improvement for me. I am happy to answer any question you might have.

That’s exactly what I have! The worst being the insomnia which then makes the other symptoms ten times worse. I also have burning pain/paresthesia. How long did it take you to start sleeping again? I think once I can consistently sleep, I will finally feel better although last night I had a horrific panic attack that ended up with burning pain and insomnia again only sleeping 1.5 hours.

Unfortunately my sleep took the longest to get better for me personally. But after 2 or 3 weeks I could sleep for a few hours, waking up early in the morning. It got much better after 1 or 2 months. I moved to the couch after the first few nights because I felt safer there. There were better and worse nights, but there would always be a good night too. I since tapered further so keep disturbing my sleep again but mostly I sleep several hours and fall asleep again after waking up at night/early morning :)
