1st Seroquel Update - Feeling Poor

May 15, 2026··
taper update
Feeling poor. Been having bouts of fatigue, anxiety, emotional blunting, and tinnitus. Would like to know safest way to taper because I really wanna stop taking this drug even though it helps me sleep. I only take it at night before bed.

Trintellix — 10 — 2months — holding | Lithium (carbonate / citrate) — 450 — 5 months — researching taper | Seroquel — 50 — 7 months — actively tapering | other | without clinician

At first a warm welcome to our platform Jeffrey! As you took it for only 7 months, i think it will be managable to slowly get off it in a Hyperbolic way. Look up this guide: https://taper.community/resources/blog/quetiapine-seroquel-withdrawal-guide I personally found a good sleeping aid in Melatonin (0,5-1h before sleep) that helped me in times of sleeplessness and withdrawal but you will also find valuable counterarguments to not further modify brain hormones. If you have any questions just ask us and we‘ll help as much as we can. Tell us how you‘ll proceed and how your taper works out 💪👍

off Stimulants (2000-2013)
off Fluoxetine (2010-2013)
off Lamotrigine (2013-2016)
off Quetiapain (2016-2020)

currently Effexor — 33mg — 13 years (from 300mg) — actively tapering | with clinician

Hi @JEFFREY TOBEY, we're glad to have you here at Taper Community! I hope the article Steve linked will help you. You can also use the Learn section to read about Hyperbolic tapering. As long as you take things slowly and listen to your body, you. should be able to taper off the Seroquel. Slower is really faster when it comes to getting off these drugs. The Symptoms and Self-Care section of the forum address the many symptoms you're having, so feel free to take a look. How much have you been reducing by each time? If symptoms get overwhelming, it's probably a sign you need to reduce by a lesser amount or wait longer between reductions. Let us know if you have any specific questions or concerns! Catina 💜

Venlafaxine (tapering) - Current dose 17.92 mg
Trazodone - 50 mg
Levothyroxine - 25 mcg

Hi @JEFFREY TOBEY , when the tinnitus started what dose were you at before and what did you drop to? Tinnitus can be caused by a range of medications, especially anti-depressants when dropped too quickly. Seroquel has a range of effects beyond dopamine, it affects histamine, serotonin and norepinephrine too. Usually the lowest levels are where most people have problems, which is the reason why Australia banned it's prescription for off label sleep usage. If we can know your before and after dosage, then it might help to determine what caused it, or is the tinnitus just from regular usage at 50mg per day?

Pristiq — 30mg — 17 Years — holding | Seroquel — 400mg — 17 Years — holding | Valium — 2mg once or twice a week — 10 years — supporting others | other — Modafinil 200mg — 3 Months — supporting others | with clinician
