Delete your account

You can delete your TaperCommunity account yourself, at any time, without asking anyone. Deletion is immediate and permanent — there is no waiting period and no way for us to restore an account afterwards.

If you can sign in

  1. Sign in at taper.community or in the TaperCommunity app.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Scroll to Delete account, then type DELETE to confirm.

If you cannot sign in

Email [email protected] from the address on the account and ask us to delete it. We do this by hand within 30 days, usually much sooner. We may ask you to confirm from that address before deleting, so that nobody else can close your account.

What gets deleted

Deleting your account removes the account itself and everything attached to it:

  • Your profile, sign-in details, and sessions
  • Your journal entries, medications, and taper history
  • Your threads, replies, comments, votes, and follows
  • Your direct messages and notifications
  • Any clinician-match or booking requests you sent

What stays, and why

Two things outlive the account, for reasons worth being plain about:

  • Words of yours that someone else quoted. If another member quoted your post inside their own, that copy belongs to their post and stays. Your original is gone.
  • Articles published under the site. If you wrote for the TaperCommunity library, those articles remain and are reassigned to the site rather than deleted.

Backups and server logs age out on their own schedule. See the Privacy Policy for how long those are kept.
