I' ve been on quetiapin for bipolar disorder (currentky 200mg) since I turned 30 and on lamotrigin for even longer. Now I'm fast approaching 50 and I want to get off of the high dose of quetiapin and just keep it in a much smaller dose to help with sleep and hypomania.
Hey Fuzzy! Thanks for joining us. Do you have a taper plan in place? Any ideas on which medication youll be starting with? If quetiapine is helping with your insomnia it may be smart to start with lamotrigine, however its difficult to say without knowing you personally. In either case, which ever medication you choose, start slowly with small cuts and see how it goes, 10% cuts are the general rule and wait until youre feeling fully stabilized. You can go to the My Taper tab to fill out check ins to see how your mood changes over time with the dose.
Wishing you all the best and hoping to hear more from you!
